Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The CFO oversees the team and all aspects of finance and accounting for a company in Albany. This position reports to and works closely with the CEO and partners with the senior leadership and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization.
You will play a critical role in guiding the financial strategy and ensuring the financial health and stability of the whole organization. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, manage financial risks, and provide strategic financial guidance to support the company’s growth and profitability goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting and Tax
- Ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory and audit requirements
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards
- Select SRM’s external accounting partners and manage the review or audit process and coordinate all audit activities
Finance and Planning
- Oversee financing strategies, debt management, and banking relationships
- Lead the annual and 3-year budgeting processes
- Oversee month-end close and reporting
- Monitor adherence to budgets and proactively recommend adjustments to ensure goal attainment
- Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models
- Lead financial analysis for any M&A activities
Cash Management
- Build robust and accurate cash forecast modeling
- Provide early insight into negative cash trends and proactively recommend remediation strategies
- Manage and optimize working capital, cash flow, and capital expenditure to support operational needs and long-term growth
- Lead cost management strategies for the organization
Other
- Prepare and present financial metrics internally as well as to the Board of Directors and potential partners
- Oversee all financial accounting and reporting systems, introducing automation to increase accuracy and reduce costs
- Review key contracts for compliance and risks
- Evaluate project profitability and proactively introduce pricing and cost changes to ensure gross margin attainment
- Oversee all legal issues, including managing outside counsel
- Oversee and manage the renewal of benefits program and corporate insurance programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of financial management experience
- MBA preferred; a CPA a plus
- 5 years minimum in a senior-level role
- Deep, demonstrated experience managing cash in a similarly sized organization
- Audit and review experience preferred
- Experience leading finance and accounting for a services organization
