Southern Point Staffing has a career opportunity for a Direct Support Professional!
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides daily care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in various activities of daily living and helping them achieve personal goals outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP). This role is non-exempt and involves a variety of duties focused on community engagement, health, safety, and documentation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a positive role model, effectively communicating and working as part of a team.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities (e.g., medication administration, hygiene, nutrition, home duties).
- Support individuals in community participation and ensure safety during outings and medical appointments.
- Implement Behavioral Management and Safety Plans and document progress.
- Transport individuals, operate agency vehicles, and conduct vehicle inspections as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and keep up-to-date with required training and certifications.
- Accurately document services, complete reports, and track progress toward ISP goals.
- Participate in required meetings as part of the individual’s care team.
- Assist with household management duties, including cleaning and environmental checks.
- DSPs are required to work closely with case managers, document all services, and ensure individuals' needs are met in line with their care plans.
- The job description is subject to change based on employer needs.
- Must complete annual training requirements to retain employment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid GA Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
- The Ability to obtain a certified 7-year MVR from DDS, with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Schedule and Compensation:
$11.00/hr starting pay
