Field Service Heavy Equipment Technician Company Service Truck | Home Every Night | Macon, GA Region
Now Hiring Experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics

We are looking for a dependable, self-sufficient Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician who knows their way around loaders, diesel systems, and hydraulic equipment. This is a field service position working primarily from a company-provided service truck supporting equipment across the Macon and surrounding South Georgia areas.

If you prefer working independently, solving mechanical problems in the field, and staying local while still working on large equipment — this role is built for you.

What You’ll Work On

  • Caterpillar equipment (including CAT 938 loaders or similar)

  • Volvo L90 wheel loaders

  • Cinnabogan recycling equipment and material handling machinery

  • Heavy construction and recycling equipment

What Your Day Looks Like

  • Travel to job sites using a company service truck

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel issues

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs onsite

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures independently

  • Complete inspections and maintain service documentation

  • Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly

Most work is performed outdoors and independently, so reliability and self-management are critical.

Schedule & Travel

  • Start time: 7:00 AM

  • Typical end time: Around 6:00 PM

  • Regional travel between job sites (approx. 50–60 minute radius)

  • Coverage across Macon and South Georgia / I-85 corridor

  • Home every night — no overnight travel

What We’re Looking For
? Heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience required
? Strong hydraulic and diesel diagnostic skills
? Experience with CAT, Volvo, or similar equipment preferred
? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
? Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
? Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Driving Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Clean driving record preferred

  • Comfortable operating a company service truck daily

Tools

  • Company provides service truck and most specialty tools

  • Technician should supply basic hand tools
